- One-week program
The one week Equestrian program is designed with new or beginner riders in mind. Campers review the basics of horse care and stable management in daily ground lessons. Riders are tested for skill level and assigned to a group lesson with campers of similar abilities. Each rider is assigned his/her own horse and given daily mounted instruction on the basics of English riding including but not limited to basic control at the walk, trot, canter, an introduction to jumping and trail.
Equestrian I campers also participate in traditional camp activities daily:
The session is completed with a magical, final campfire ceremony where campers are recognized for their participation and accomplishments.
- Two-week program
For those campers who are interested in further developing their riding skills, the Equestrian II program is ideal. The Equestrian II camper will further develop their skills at the walk, trot, canter and over fences. They will supplement their learning with daily ground lessons in horse care and stable management. Equestrian II riders also benefit from 2 additional afternoon riding lessons per week.
Equestrian two-weekers stay through the weekend for more extreme experiences. Campers will have opportunities to challenge themselves on the high ropes and zipline, mountain boards, and mountain scooters. On Sunday, Equestrian II campers travel to the local lake for canoeing, swimming and the new water trampoline!
A second week of lessons gives riders additional time to work on their riding skills. Newly added in 2008, campers help plan, pack and then ride on an overnight trail experience, sleeping under the stars with their horse!
Equestrian II campers also participate in daily camp activities:
The session is completed with a magical, final campfire ceremony where campers are recognized for their participation and accomplishments. Finally, join us for an end-of-the-session horse show where riders will show offer their new-found skills to parents and guests.
*Camp Piomingo will only be offering laundry services to stay over campers. ALL two-week campers must pack enough clothes for the duration of their camp stay.

Did you enjoy your camping experience so much that you wanted to share it with your horse? Bring your horse to camp and let it join in the fun while learning all there is to know about your best friend. Please contact the Equestrian Director for more information.
The Stay Over Program allows campers to extend their stay for multiple sessions. All meals, supervision and laundry are provided along with a fun day at a local attraction. Campers are treated to a camp out and movie under the large pavilion, pizza party and lots of swim time.
*Despite the closure of Six flags, the Stay Over Program will not be affected. Additional activities are currently being scheduled for a fun and exciting weekend.
