Why is overnight camp so important?
Camp Piomingo Summer Camp Programs are much more than just fun for children. Camp is often a child’s first extended overnight trip away from the comfort of their home. An effective camp experience enables the child to become a self-sufficient individual in a safe, fun, healthy and friendly environment. Camp is an outdoor setting and helps children experience healthy living due to the active and always energetic schedule. Living together in a rustic setting, campers and counselors share unique adventures and have many opportunities to grow on the inside….by being outside.
Campers stay in cabins with seven to nine other campers of similar age and two competent, caring, and dedicated staff members who put campers first. During your camper’s stay with us all campers are cared for 24hrs a day. Cabins are arranged in Units and each cabin shares a bathhouse and lodge with its own stone fireplace and fire circle. Responsibility, interdependence, and sharing are a part of cabin life at YMCA Camp Piomingo.
