Horseback riding lessons are available for individuals looking for a fun and safe environment to learn the basics of English riding and horsemanship. Lessons are available from September and run through the end of April.
Taught by certified instructors, riding lessons offer riders an increased opportunity to learn horsemanship, horse & stable management as well as excel in the art of hunt seat equitation. Instructors will work with you to develop the best program to fit your needs whether you are a first-timer picking up a new hobby or an experienced jumper looking for a challenge.
For available times, please contact the Equestrian Director, Whitney Skirtich at wskirtich@camppiomingo.org.
Girl Scout Troops interested in working towards their horse badge are invited to Camp Piomingo for a fun day of horses!
Taught by certified instructors, the Badge Program includes morning ground lessons to cover badge requirements such as horse safety, handling, and equipment care. Following lunch, scouts participate in an hour of riding instruction. Each Scout is assigned her own horse and will learn proper position and basic control at the walk. If deemed ready by the instructors, the scouts may end their ride on a short trail. The girls will leave the program having learned about horse care and management, horse parts, colors, and breeds, grooming, tacking, and riding basics.
This program is also available for other groups such as Venture Crew, Boy Scouts, etc. Curriculum can be altered to accommodate badge requirements if necessary.
For rates and available times, please contact the Equestrian Director, Whitney Skirtich at wskirtich@camppiomingo.org.
