Safety & Accreditation

ACA Accreditation

Camp Piomingo is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Developed exclusively for the camping industry, this nationally recognized program focuses on program quality, health and safety issues and requires an annual review of all facets of our operations.

Health

Camp Piomingo maintains a well-equipped health center with an on-site registered nurse and certified medical staff 24 hours a day. All staff and campers must have current medical history (health form) on file in the health center. Our medical staff take care of all medications and camper and staff medical needs.

Camp Piomingo serves up nutritious, kid-friendly food with plenty of dining options at each meal and is served family style. All menus are approved by a certified dietitian. The daily schedule is full of opportunities to promote healthy living in the outdoors.

Safety

Safety at Camp Piomingo is the number one priority. All campers are required to take a swim test on the first day of camp and are given a swim band so our lifeguards can see the swimming level of each camper. Prior to dinner all campers and staff come together to participate in an orientation on camp rules and expectations etc. This is a fun but serious time at camp and helps set the tone for the camper’s experience.

Staff take part in a week long staff training where they are trained in First Aid/CPR, emergency procedures, how to teach our fun and exciting activities, high ropes training, lifeguard training, how to recognize and deal with bullying and much, much more.

We strive to reach a 4-to-1 camper-to-staff ratio. Supervision of campers at all times is top priority. Campers are taught the buddy system and are not allowed to move around camp by themselves.
