Staff and campers are able to enjoy a variety of activities and experiences at Camp Piomingo. Each program offers different options, opportunities and combinations of the activities listed below.

Final Campfire

This Awards Ceremony is held on the final night of each one and two-week session. All campers are brought together to reflect on their experience and receive recognition for participation and cabin unity. In the event of good behavior, great participation, cabin and unit leadership, activity level improvement, etc, campers will receive one of the following awards and a color-corresponding feather:

“A Brave at Piomingo (red feather), is a camper who successfully completes their one or two-week stay. During this time they always kept a good attitude and positive outlook on the day’s events, participated in all scheduled activities, behaved in a way that positively represented their cabin group and most importantly, had FUN.”

“A Warrior at Piomingo (blue feather), is a camper who was a leader amongst their Cabin Group. They participated in all scheduled activities, behaved in a way that exceeded the expectations of their cabin counselors, always held a positive attitude and demonstrated Piomingo Spirit within their cabin group.”

“A Double Feather Warrior at Piomingo (2 blue feathers), is a camper who was a leader amongst their Unit or Program. They participated in all scheduled activities, behaved in a way that exceeded the expectations of all counselors within their program, always held an attitude that positively impacted others and demonstrated Piomingo Spirit within their unit or program.”

“A Scout at Piomingo (white feather), is a camper who was a leader amongst camp as a whole. They participated andsucceeded in all scheduled activities, behaved in a way that exceeded the expectations of all camp counselors, always held a positive attitude and demonstrated Piomingo Spirit among camp as a whole.”

“A Little Chief at Piomingo (eagle feather), is a camper who was a leader amongst camp as a whole. They participated and excelled in all scheduled activities, behaved in a way that exceeded the expectations of all Piomingo staff, always held a positive attitude, completed a service project that improved camp, completed a solo-overnight with limited supplies and demonstrated Piomingo Spirit among camp as a whole.” (This is the highest honor awarded to Piomingo Campers)

“A Chief at Piomingo (eagle feather), is a staff who successfully leads their cabin through their one or two-week stay. During this time they always kept a positive attitude, lead all scheduled activities, behaved in a way that positively represented the expectations of our camp goals and most importantly, put the needs of their campers before their own.”

“A C.O.W. at Piomingo (Counselor of the Week), is a staff who exceeded the expectations of their fellow counselors and guaranteed that their campers had the safest and most fun experience possible.”

Two other awards that are given at Final Campfire are the Spirit Spear and Spirit Shield. The Spirit Spear is given to the cabin that shows the most unity, camp spirit and respect for others. The Spirit Shield is given to the unit or program that shows the most unity, camp spirit and respect for others.
